Fashion has always been about layers, but in today’s world, those layers go beyond fabric. Exposed Layers was born from a single question:
What happens when we turn a t-shirt into a touchpoint and not just a product?
Launched as LIVVIUM’s in-house experiment, Exposed Layers explores how physical products can unlock immersive, ownable, and intelligent digital layers. This wasn’t a thought exercise, it was a live pilot designed to test, learn, and lead.
The Mission
- Can garments tell stories, authenticate themselves, and extend into digital spaces?
- Will buyers engage more deeply when the product itself is a portal?
- What friction points exist and how can brands solve them now, not later?
Exposed Layer wasn’t built for the gallery. It was built for the garment rack, the QR scan, the camera lens, and the collector. It’s phygital, functional, and real-world validated.
Co-Founder Collaboration
Zoha Khan, a boundary-pushing fashion designer with an eye for systems and cultural depth served as the co-creator behind the physical design.
LIVVIUM handled the digital layerstack: storytelling, AR integration, DPP, and system thinking.
Together, they crafted a capsule that didn’t just wear well, it worked well across both physical and digital surfaces.
What We Tested, a Layered Activation
Each Exposed Layers t-shirt included:
NFC tag: embedded chip linking to proof of ownership
AR filter: unlockable via product scan, wearable and shareable
Digital Product Passport (DPP): transparency layer documenting provenance, intent, and partners
NFT claim: for digital ownership and potential resale royalties
3D Virtual Store: contextualizing the drop in an immersive, shoppable gallery
Fashion for Better:
- AI Sizing + VTO: The virtual store included Snap-powered try-on and a 10-second body scan, reducing guesswork and returns.
- Made with Overstock Fabric: Each physical garment was crafted using upcycled materials, reinforcing our commitment to circularity and thoughtful production
- Limited Edition, High-Intent: Small-batch drop with traceable ownership, designed to reduce waste and elevate value.
The Rollout: 3 Phases
Pilot Build
Soft Launch
Extended Play & Discovery
This campaign is 100% LIVVIUM-built. Every partner and tech element was hand-tested by Olivia herself before launch from fit accuracy to storytelling cohesion.
Outcomes
- Proof of Concept: Demonstrated how NFC + AR + blockchain + story = deeper brand engagement
- Operational Learnings: Documented tech integration, user behavior, and backend workflow
- Market Validation: Submitted to the 2025 Lumen Prize and featured in Undoxxed Vol. 2, highlighting Exposed Layers as a pioneering case at the intersection of digital art, identity, and commerce.
- More insights are coming!
